Etnosoi! Festival is organized by the music institute Global Music Centre.

This year the Centre is celebrating its 40th anniversary year. During its long period of operation, the Global Music Centre has led music research projects and a pioneer  in working with musicians of minority and immigrant background. It also has organized several development cooperation projects around the world involving music, among many other activities. These themes are also emphasized in the program of Etnosoi! 2019 festival. 

The Global Music Centre was founded in 1979, operating until 1991 as the Institute of Workers-Music. The Centre has organized the Etnosoi! festival since 1988.

Etnosoi!, one of the oldest world music festivals in Finland will once again offer colorful and touching experiences from around the world in November in Helsinki. Festival celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Global Music Centre with a rich musical setting. The ability of music to break boundaries and to connect cultures and individual musicians is highlighted in this year's festival programme. In addition to different musical styles, rhythms and old music traditions, this year's festival also features nightingales that sing. Nightingales in Berlin is a film about nightingales ​​in Berlin, and international musicians who play with these birds.

Etnosoi, one of Finland's oldest and most important world music festivals! in Helsinki, once again, offers colorful and touching experiences from around the world for the 32nd time. This year, the festival will address, among other things, socially difficult themes such as bullying and the use of power. Music is part of the society. The social discrimination and feelings of being outsider are experienced also by many immigrant or minority artists. This debate is addressed in festival with Playback Theatre and seminar.
