Introduction

The Balalaika Orchestra Kalinka plays Slavic folk music, Russian romances, entertainment music and light classical music. The orchestra was founded in 1993. Kalinka has performed successfully at music festivals, e.g. In St. Petersburg, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Tallinn and Stockholm. Finland has been toured from Åland to Lapland. In addition to domestic radio and TV appearances, Kalinka has been popular on the Moscow Radio's "Lighthouse" music program. Kalinka has released the album "Troikka kiitää" with soloist Yrjö Pavloff, and the orchestra has played on the records "Tulitikkutyttö" and "Valkoinen kyyhky" with soloist Viktor Klimenko.
