Pandit Sanjay Guha (India)
Sanjay Guha is one of today's most appreciated sitar players in the North Indian classical scene. Musically he belongs to the Maihar-Senia -school, which is represented by famous North Indian masters, such as Pandit Ravi Shankar and Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. From the year 1980 until the this year Guha's teacher was Pandit Deepak Chowdhury, who was taught by master Pandit Ravi Shankar for a long time. Since year 2004 he has been guided musically by Pandit Ravi Shankar himself. He has been student of the masters of the sarod-instrument as well, Pandit Radikamohan Maitra and Sri Satyabrat Guha, who were responsible for his earlier studies.Sanjay Guha has given concerts especially in India and in Europe. He has been the main artist in numerous significant art music events in India and has also been rewarded with several respected Indian music-awards and tributes, the latest one was Baba Allauddin Khan Smriti Samman in 2004. Besides having concerts Guha is also a very devoted teacher, and at the moment he is senior teacher of the sitar playing in the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (Indian Institute for Art & Culture), which is in the subordination of the London Trinity College of Music.
At Etnosoi! Sanjay Guha's accompanist is Puish Engineer who is very valued player of tabla drums.
