DHOAD GYPSIES OF RAJASTHAN (IN)
Dhoad Gypsies of Rajasthan comes from the land of the Maharajahs. They are often referred to be Cultural Ambassadors of Rajasthan which is easy to believe by taking a look at the band´s intense touring schedule. A marked contrast to their Rajasthani gypsy music peers is the amount of influences Dhoad Gypsies has taken to its music. There's everything from Spanish flamenco influences to Moroccan gnawa to Pakistani qawwali to Balkan and Eastern European strains, and yet Dhoad Gypsies strongly hail from the wild and magnificent Thar desert in Rajasthan. At the Etnosoi! Festival this eight member band brings onto the stage not only virtuoso musicians but a dancer and fakir, all together. This concert is suitable for the whole family.
