Introduction

From Behind Enemy Lines does an eclectic combination of Jazz, Blues, Funk comprised of mostly original compositions.

From Behind Enemy Lines is a quartet of highly seasoned veteran musicians with extraordinary musical chemistry. All the musicians except Mr. Price hail from Detroit, Michigan. The band is under the co-leadership of saxophonist/vocalist Larry Price and drummer/vocalist Dr. Professor Leonard King Jr.

Larry Price is a veteran saxophonist/vocalist who hails from Wilmington, N.C. but has lived in Finland for the past ten years. Mr. Price has performed with such notables as Quincy Jones and Nancy Wilson. Performed with and served as music director for the New York/New Jersey based group “The Spirit of Life Ensemble” and has most recently performed with James Carter and his organ trio.

Dr. Professor Leonard King Jr. is an incredible drummer/vocalist who has performed with a host of world renowned musicians over several decades. Too many to mention here but at present and for the past ten years he has been the drummer/vocalist with “The James Carter Organ Trio” as well as many other projects of his own. As a composer and arranger, Mr. King continues to lead his own percussion groups as well as big bands remaining very active in the Detroit area and around the world.

Organist Chris Codish has steadily made himself an indispensable part of the Detroit musical community. A perennial winner at the Detroit Music Awards over the past fourteen years, he has received multiple honors for his vocal and songwriting skills as well as his organ and piano dexterity. He’s led The Brothers Groove, toured worldwide with the likes of Hiram Bullock, Harvey Mason and Lucky Peterson.

Guitarist Ron English has enjoyed a long and varied music career, with roots wide and deep in blues, Broadway, bebop, avant-garde, funk, Motown, and gospel. He toured with the Four Tops, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, the Supremes, Mary Wilson, and recorded with Gladys Knight and the Pips. Ron teaches jazz theory and ensemble classes at has conducted clinics and workshops at universities across the US.

“Out From Behind Enemy Lines” is the title of the new CD which is to be released in the spring of 2013. It’s a 2 CD package with the first CD being a duet of sax & drums, with the addition of vocals by Dr. Professor Leonard King Jr. The second CD is the quartet performing original compositions written by Larry Price.

Technical Information

We do 2-3 hour concerts. A sound system is required as well as drums, organ, and amplifiers.
